A BOOTLE school will join hundreds of other organisations across the UK in supporting Safer Internet Day.

Hillside High School will help mark the occasion by promoting the safe and responsible use of technology when the national event takes place on Tuesday, February 10.

Safer Internet Day, which has a theme of ‘Let’s create a better internet together’, offers the opportunity to focus on both the creative and positive ways in which children use the internet.

The event will see Bootle pupils make video pledges during their computer science lessons to say what they will contribute to help make the internet a safer place.

A spokesperson for Hillside High School said: “I am really delighted for students and staff to be part of this campaign. It is a powerful reminder that although technology can provide us with many wonderful opportunities to enhance our learning, it can also be a challenging place at times. ”We want to encourage all of our students at Hillside High School to be responsible users of technology who can all help to make the internet a better place, together“.
