Popular comic to launch charity walk
by Tom Martin

ACTRESS and comedienne Pauline Daniels will help launch a charity walk along Crosby beach.

It has been confirmed that the comic will once again open the ‘Beside the Seaside Walk' which is aimed at raising money for The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.

It will start at Crosby Marina and the group will then travel along the coast.

Pauline, originally from Birkenhead, took part in the walk last year and is now urging local families to join her on the day as she has a personal connection with the cause.

The 59-year-old, who is famed for her stand-up routines and also appearances in Brookside, was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago but thankfully fought off the illness.

She said: “I'm so very happy to be starting off the seaside walk again this year. I am committed to fighting and winning the fight against this awful disease and what better way than to have a fabulous beach walk with friends and family.

”I'm now cancer free and although being diagnosed has changed my life, it's changed it for the better - I have different priorities now and beating cancer is one of them.

“That’s why it's so important that we help raise funds for cancer research, especially when it is being done on our doorstep at our local cancer centre.

”I am so happy and thankful for the expert treatment I received, so come and join us and enjoy a great family day out whilst supporting Clatterbridge. We’ll certainly be enjoying a walk along this beautiful stretch of coastline before sitting down to enjoy a great fish and chip lunch and ice cream.“

There will also be a ‘Pooch Parade' if anyone would like to bring along their dog to take part in the event.

Samantha Archibald, Event Manager for the charity said: ”We are so grateful for Pauline’s ceaseless support of the charity and I am absolutely thrilled she will be opening the event again this year.

“Over the last two years, our walkers have had a fabulous day and helped us raise £55,000 to support cancer patients in this region.

”We are hoping ‘Beside the Seaside Walk 2015’ will be just as successful and provide everyone with an opportunity to either celebrate or remember whilst having a great day out.“

It will take place on Sunday, May 10. For more details please contact Samantha Archibald on 0151 482 7948 or
