Sailor Lynn takes centre stage
by Tom Martin

A BOOTLE sailor is taking centre stage in a play that revolves around her career in the Royal Navy.

Leading writer Lynn Westhead is starring in “Contact”, which is currently on stage at the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre in Buckinghamshire.

All the actors in the production are Armed Forces personnel, or veterans, who have spent four months writing and producing plays based on their military stories.

Lynn wears her Royal Navy uniform throughout the play and reflects on the challenges and happiness she has experiences in her career.

The 37-year-old said: “This really is an innovative project that gives each of us the opportunity to highlight what we do in the Armed Forces for the wider community.”

Lynn currently works within the Joint Information Activities Group, based at RAF Halton, in Aylesbury, where she works as a leading writer.

The cast of Combat is made up of nine veterans, three service personnel, two military wives, two cadet instructors and a family member.

Lynn added: “It’s all about improving confidence, self awareness and motivation and giving each of us a voice to tell our story.”
