MAJOR refurbishments are planned for the Hesketh Lane Post Office in Hesketh Bank which will see the site provide a more ‘local' service and open for an extra 58 hours a week.

The investment, bosses say, reaffirms their commitment to an ongoing ‘no more branch closures' programme.

Hesketh Lane Post Office, based on Station Road, will temporarily close on June 17 ahead of the refurbishment works which will see the new look store reopen for business on July 3.

The service will be provided at an open-plan counter in the store, where the Post Office terminal will sit alongside the till.

A focus on more ‘local' services will allow businesses and residents in the community to access a wide range of Post Office and mails services, including Special Delivery, Local Collect, home shopping returns, online banking cash deposits and withdrawals.

The opening hours which will increase by an extra 58 hours a week with earlier opening and later closing times. Lunch time closures will also cease.

Julie Kemp, Area Manager said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

”We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.

“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future. The investment marks a commitment to our no more branch closure programme.”
