LOCAL artists were given a chance to showcase their work after Sefton Community Learning Services set up a special exhibition at their Seaforth base.

The organisation, which supports adult learning, invited their learners to display artwork as part of a week long gallery.

Residents who then viewed the exhibition were given the chance to buy some of the pieces and vote for their favourite, with the winner getting £25 worth of vouchers.

It follows art classes which were held at the Cambridge Road centre, held by teacher Melanie Sullivan, and she was delighted to see the work on show.

One of the budding artists was Marie Wright, who managed to sell one of her paintings after it impressed at the gallery.
