Pupil has his work displayed at gallery
by Tom Martin

A BUDDING artist from a Bootle school had his 3D abstract artwork showcased at a prestigious gallery in Liverpool.

Declan Arnold, who attends Hillside High School, was able to view his unique work in the annual Liverpool Dot Arts Competition which was held at St George's Hall last month.

The Year 9 youngster was voted to represent the school after 23 artists stepped forward to stake a claim to have their art selected.

Amanda Ryan, headteacher at Hillside said: “Artists from Hillside High School have been working very hard after school over the past few months to create a piece of artwork for the Liverpool Dot Arts Competition.

”This is a really prestigious competition and schools from all over Merseyside take part. The standard of submitted work is extremely high and all of our students were determined to produce their very best work.

“From the original 23 artists, only three from Hillside could go forward to the next round and Declan Arnold, Daisy Wilson and Angel Wilson were voted as our top three. Finally, Declan was chosen to represent Hillside and have his 3D abstract artwork displayed.”

As part of the gallery, Declan was invited to a presentation evening when he was given a certificate by the the Lord Mayor of Liverpool Cllr Tony Concepcion.

Mrs Ryan added: “I am extremely proud of all our students who took part in the competition. It was fantastic to attend St Georges Hall and view Declan’s artwork and it was an honour to attend the awards presentation in the superb concert room which was a fitting venue for such a prestigious event.”
