Pub regulars swap pint glasses for golf clubs to help hospice
by Tom Martin

LOCALS who drink at a Thornton pub swapped their pint glassed for golf clubs and managed to raise £1,245 for Woodlands Hospice.

Regulars from The Grapes, on Green Lane, took part in the golf day organised by pub manageress Maria Webb, who has supported the hospice over the last three years, raising £4,000.

Christine Peach, community fundraising manager at the Hospice, said: “The Grapes pub is a fantastic example of local people organising their own fundraising activities whilst having a great deal of fun along the way. It's an absolute pleasure working with Maria and the regulars and I am really looking forward to their future fund raising events”.

If your organisation would like to help the hospice through fundraising in the community please ring Christine on 0151 529 8117.
