PLANS to give more than £50,000 to community groups across Netherton and Bootle so they can create more activities and support in the area have been given the green light.

As reported in the Champion last month, Sefton Council drew up a proposal to give four organisations and charities a grant which will help towards their individual targets.

As a result of the council's recent approval, The L30 Community Centre, on Stonyfield, will now be given £13,424 for a refurbishment.

Sefton Play Council will also get £14,981 to offer 30 children a chance to take part in ‘forest play sessions' at their Waverley Street base as part of an educational project.

Regenerus will receive £15,000 to create ‘community farms' and SAFE Productions will get £10,000 to help with their ongoing attempts to turn the Little Merton Pub into a community venue.

The plan was approved last week and these four grants, which total £53,405, is hoped to bring about positive change for Netherton and Bootle.
