LITHERLAND Remyca has announced the signing of former Burscough and Bootle captain Chris Tyson.

The signature of Tyson is a major coup for the side, with the 33-year-old midfielder being a regular for Evo-Stik North side Burscough in recent seasons.

He was also Bootle's captain in the 2009 Division One title winning squad so will bring a lot of experience to Remyca.

Manager of Remyca, Phil Stafford said: “I am delighted to have got Chris's signature. He is exactly what we need at the moment. He offers experience at this level and above, being a previous captain of both Bootle and Burscough.

”He will bring that extra bit of professionalism that we need and if the players can learn from him then we will go a long way. He is a cracking lad, doesn't miss a training session and will still probably be the fittest in the team despite his young 33 years!

“On the pitch he has the ability to dictate the pace of the game. He is and has been one of the best central midfielders in non league and for a club like Litherlamd Remyca to be able to attract a player like Chris just shows how far the club has come in such a short period of time in non league.”
