Win a chance to launch musical firework show
by Tom Martin

A MUSICAL firework display will take place in Netherton following on from its success last year.

In November 2014, community group L30's Million Partnership Group launched the event at Netherton Activity Centre (NAC) which saw more than 8,000 people attend.

As well as entertaining local families, Merseyside Police also reported how the event significantly reduced the number of anti-social behaviour calls on what is one of the busiest nights for emergency services.

Organisers are delighted to welcome back the spectacle, with it set to take place on Thursday, November 5 at 8pm.

A spokesperson for L30's Million said: “L30’s Million are hosting a musical firework display at the NAC again this year after the amazing feedback we received from residents and partner organisations last year.

”The L30’s Million Partnership group decided to bring the firework display back to the NAC last year after requests from residents to increase community spirit in the area.“

This year's event promises to be equally as special, with a local youngster being invited to push the ‘launch button' to get the fireworks underway.

To decide who will take on the responsibility, L30's Million is inviting children to submit their own drawing of a fireworks display.

The spokesperson added: ”This year the Partnership Group would like to give young people from the area the chance to push the button and launch the display. The winner will also be invited to view the display from the VIP area within the NAC with their family.

“To enter the competition we want children to send in their drawings or paintings of a firework display. We will upload one picture every night through October at 7.30pm onto our Facebook page. All uploaded entries will then be entered into a draw for the chance to win the prize.”

Pictures will need to be sent to Kerry Pavey, at Bootle Town Hall, Trinity Road, in Bootle. The pictures can also be dropped off at the L30 Community Centre or Prima Donna store, on Marian Square.

The last chance to enter will be on Friday, October 23. Children must be aged between 5-16 and must live in the Netherton area or attend the schools of St Oswalds, The Grange, Netherton Moss, St Benedicts, St Ambrose Barlow or Holy Spirit.
