ANYONE looking to fundraise over the festive period are being urged to dress up as Father Christmas for a day in aid of Thornton-based Jospice.

The annual fundraising event, which has proved to be a huge hit in recent years, involves people donning a Santa outfit in exchange for a £10 donation.

Although the event has been designated for Friday, December 11, it can take place on any day in the build up to Christmas.

Last year, the local Jospice managed to raise thousands of pounds after schools and firms from across Sefton opted to take part.

Director of Fundraising & Communications, Pat Murphy, said: “Everyone who has taken part in the past has had a great fun day at work. Its amazing the different businesses, schools and other organisations that have taken part. One restaurant in Liverpool raised over £1,000 last year on the day, which was fantastic. Hopefully a lot more will local businesses will join in this year.

”All Jospice ask is that you make a donation of £10, and we will donate the suit to you and give you a range of ideas on how you can maybe raise some funds on the day, from making the coffee and providing mince pies for your colleagues, to getting sponsorship, raffle or many other ways.

“Maybe a group of colleagues will get together for a fun day. Whatever they decide to do every penny raised will support local terminally ill people and their families over the Christmas time.”

If you are interested in taking part do contact Jospice on: 0151 924 3812.
