Arsonists 'are to blame' for bin fire
by Tom Martin

FIREFIGHTERS had to tackle a fire in Netherton after a bin shed was set alight by arsonists.

Emergency services were called out to Piggotts Rake, at around 2.30am on Thursday, November 12.

Officials believe the fire was started deliberately and firefighters were there for around half an hour.

Merseyside Police has been targeting the Netherton area in recent weeks after a rise in arson attacks on wheelie bins, trees and play equipment in the local parks.

The Champion reported last month how residents were “living in fear” of yobs starting deliberate blazes and officers stepped up patrols in the town.
