MP meets junior politicians
by Tom Martin

A JUNIOR parish council run by children at Melling Primary School welcomed a special guest at their latest meeting in the form of MP Bill Esterson.

The youngsters were able to ask the local politician for help and advice about ways to improve the town when he visited on Monday, November 23.

Headteacher Viv Ainsworth-Brown, said: “The Junior Parish Council shows democracy in action to our children. In effect, they are like little MPs. Mr Esterson’s visit has inspired the children and helped them to see how they play their part in democracy at a local level and how they can make a difference.

”Our school aim is to be the best that we can be, and the Junior Parish Council members are working with stakeholders, including their MP, Mr Esterson, to make the local area the best that it can be for all children to grow up in.“
