Charity to offer free course on how to use the internet
by Tom Martin

A WATERLOO charity is offering a free ‘know how to use the internet' course to anyone living in the local area.

3tc, Merseyside Third Sector Technology Centre, will host the scheme as a way to help people who lack computer skills.

Jackie Kemp-Ellis, 3tc’s Chief Officer said: “Each New Year is a fresh start, and this is a great opportunity for people that lack computer skills to become digitally included. You don’t need any prior computer experience and we’ll show you how to access free email, online storage and useful applications like word processors.

”As these are web-based you don’t even need to own a computer. All can be accessed for free from a number of local community venues, and these services continue to be available even after the course ends. Our courses are really short at just three hours per week for four weeks and include a free lunch.

“More and more services are becoming digital-by-default and we don’t want people missing out on savings, both in terms of time and money, that the rest of us take for granted everyday.

”Our ‘know how to’ courses are especially useful for unemployed people. We will show you how to look for work using Google job searches, register with job sites, do CV’s and profile letters, complete application forms online and use government services such as Universal Job Match.“

Anyone interested should contact Debbie Kelly at 3tc by calling 0151 285 4010.
