SOUTHPORT Festival, a major new suite of events and activities focussed on quality arts and culture comes to the town centre over the weekend of Friday 6th to Sunday 8th of May.

The festival will showcase four main areas -

- Music

- Poetry and Literature

- Visual Arts such as painting and sculpture

- Comedy

It will feature well-known headline acts amongst a variety of highly regarded artists and performers. Acts confirmed include comedy star Mark Watson and world-renowned poet, playwright and TV presenter Simon Armitage.

The festival will take place in venues large and small throughout the town centre including The Atkinson - plus many hotels, bars and restaurants. There will be a real buzz around the town as activities and performances are also planned for outside spaces such as Chapel Street, Town Hall Gardens and Kings Gardens.

There will plenty going on in all fields, especially in music where the programme will build on the most popular and best loved elements from the Jazz festival and also include major folk acts and other genres.

Southport Festival is jointly funded by Southport Business Improvement District and Sefton Council in partnership with The Atkinson, Southport Contemporary Arts and many other venues and organisations. It is set to be a wonderful, vibrant weekend of culture and entertainment for Southport.

More information regarding the content of festival will be released as soon as it is confirmed via, on social media and via a dedicated website –
