WHEN Louisa Henry and her boyfriend Allan Connell set off for their regular trip to the crazy golf course in Southport she had no idea of the surprise in store for her.
For while 33-year-old Louisa, from Burscough was busy ringing the bell on the 19th hole to win a free round at ‘The Masters Putting Green’ on the Promenade, Southport, Allan had another kind of ‘ring’ on his mind.
And she turned round to find him down on one knee with an engagement ring in hand!
Louisa Henry, from Burscough was playing the 19th hole and had just rung the bell for a free game and turned round to see her husband-to-be, Allan Connell, from Barrow-in-Furness, on one knee with a ring in his hand.
Dog groomer, Louisa, said: “It was a complete surprise. I didn’t expect it at all.
“I had just got a hole in one at the 19th and when I turned round there was Allan on one knee!
“Of course, I said ‘yes’ and was literally in shock.
“It was quite busy at the time with the kids on half-term and suddenly we were surrounded by people clapping and cheering.”
The couple have known each other about 18 years and first met at Myerscough College but only started dating two years ago.
Since then they have visited the crazy golf about three or four times a month.
Louisa added: “Since we started dating we have gone to Southport regularly and the crazy golf thing has been our shared hobby.
“It’s a bit of fun and we’ve also got to know the people who run it.”
Louisa and chef Allan, also 33, are not planning to swing into wedding action just yet though and have set a date for April, 2021.
Louisa commented: “We just want to save up and enjoy being together without rushing into planning a wedding.”
David Bannister, who works at ‘The Masters Putting Green’ on The Promenade, in Southport said: “Louisa and Allan have been coming here for two years and we are made up for them.
“It was a romantic gesture by Allan and as a way of congratulations, we gave them two complimentary games!”
