ADULT members from the Life Saving Club based at The Meadows Leisure Centre in Maghull are currently undertaking a sponsored swim in aid of Diabetes UK, to swim a distance of 22 miles, i.e. from England to France in the space of 12 weeks.
The team made up of Life Saving instructors and members from the adult group, are swimming together to help raise funds for more research into diabetes, and to promote awareness of diabetes and available treatments.
There are two types of diabetes, type 1 and type 2.
Diabetes is where the blood glucose level becomes too high. Both type 1 and type 2 can be serious if not treated correctly.
Life Saving Club has supported many charities over the years, and in 2019, the group decided to support Diabetes UK and undertake a distance challenge.
100% of donations received will go to Diabetes UK.
If people would like to donate to the charity, they can find further information at www.diabetes.org.uk,.
