A LOVING couple from Formby who have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary believe the secret to a happy marriage is family life.
Joan and Dave Godsall tied the knot 60 years ago and in keeping with their love for family life, they celebrated the special occasion with their closest relatives and friends at the Gild Hall on Friday, May 31.
Joan, 78, and Dave, 79, first met in Formby when they were only 13. It's not the most romantic of first encounters, as they only got speaking after Dave misfired a catapult slingshot that hit Joan!
Since then they have never looked back and have gone on to have six children, 13 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Their proud daughter, Vivien Powell said: “They have always been there for each other and all of us. So many people look up to them. I think they would say that the secret to their long marriage is keeping busy with the family.”
