Teenager needs surgery after being stabbed while walking along a footpath in Skelmersdale

A 16-YEAR-OLD boy needed surgery after being stabbed over the weekend of January 4 and 5 while walking along the footpath of Firbeck with his girlfriend.

He was taken to hospital and has been released on Thursday, January 9 to recover further.

On Monday, January 6, a 16-year-old boy was charged in connection with this incident and is currently awaiting sentencing.

A spokesman for Skelmersdale Police said: “We'd like to reassure everyone that we are doing our utmost to tackle knife crime in Skelmersdale, but appeal to the public to talk to your children about the importance of personal safety and being a responsible member of the community.

“We remind everyone that there are two permanent knife amnesty bins located at Tanhouse Community Centre and Digmoor Community Centre. You can surrender any weapons, completely anonymously, without having to enter the centres, no questions asked.”
