ORGANISERS of the Burscough Heritage Weekend have postponed this year’s annual event due to the coronavirus.
The popular nostalgia festival held at Burscough Wharf, now in its tenth year, was due to take place over the weekend June 27 and 28.
However, due to the current coronavirus crisis, the event has been put on hold until the situation improves.
Colin Wareing from the Burscough Heritage Group, said: “After nine successful years bringing heritage and history alive around Burscough Wharf and lots of fundraising, planning and work by a small dedicated band of volunteers the 10th Burscough Heritage Weekend has been postponed.
“The event was due to be held over the weekend of the 27th and 28th of June 2020 with the ever popular raft race being on the Sunday. Until there is an improvement in the situation no decision will be made as to when the weekend could go ahead.”
For more information about the event contact Colin on 07931 356204 or for information about the raft race call 01695 576844.
In previous two years the heritage weekend has had a 1940s theme and visitors were encouraged to dress up in 1940s garb.
