BRUNSWICK Youth and Community Centre has been gifted a new website after a local solicitor volunteered his services to help out.
The Bootle centre, which has been affected by “heavy public sector cuts”, reached out to Kevin Donoghue, of Donoghue Solicitors, for support in developing a stronger web presence.
As Kevin used to attend The Brunny, as it is known locally, he was more than happy to lend his expertise and was able to use his company's own marketing team to develop a plan.
Centre manager Keith Lloyd said: “We rely on a mix of public and private funding from partners, sponsors, and donations from the public, which enable us to offer many activities for free or at heavily subsidised rates.
“But due to heavy public sector cuts, this year we are more than £40,000 down. That’s a huge amount of money for a small community charity to lose.
“Everyone at Brunswick Youth and Community Centre is extremely grateful to Kevin and his team for their hard work. Their dedication to the project and commitment of time and money has been a godsend. I hope that people will use the website to find out more about what we do, and, if they can, help us through donations. We need all the help we can get.”
Kevin added: “I’m a local lad who used to go to The Brunny as a kid, and later volunteered there. My firm has been a long-time sponsor and supporter of The Brunny, so when Keith told me about the budget cuts I was determined to help.
“It would have been easy to just write a cheque, but The Brunny needed more than that. It needed a way to plug the funding gap.
“Through my own experience as a solicitor and business owner, I know that websites take a lot of time, effort, and money. But they can be valuable assets when done right. Working with Keith and his staff we funded and developed a 50-page professional website.”
The new website, www.brunswickycc.co.uk, details the activities on offer at the centre and has clear links throughout to The Brunny’s Virgin Money Giving page, where people can easily make donations of any amount.
Kevin added: “Now it is live we will continue to help through website hosting charges and ongoing development, as well as other marketing efforts. I am determined to make sure that people from Bootle continue to benefit from The Brunny.”
