A SHOP assistant from a Walton store who went the extra mile by helping a pensioner complete his shopping list has gone viral after the story was shared on social media.
The staff member, who works at Home Bargains, on Walton Vale, was pictured assisting an elderly man and the image was then posted on Facebook last week.
It has since been 'liked' by social media users more than 134,000 times with the helpful worker being identified as Keith Berkeley.
The person who took the picture, Sarah Ann, posted it on the official Facebook profile of Home Bargains, which led to it getting so much attention from internet users.
She said: “Just been in to your Walton Vale Store, Liverpool. I stood almost in tears watching one of your shop assistants helping an older man; so much care and compassion, going through his shopping list with him, carrying his bags, getting him a stool to sit on when he needed a rest then helping him to count his money. What a credit to your company this man is - well done!”
A response from Home Bargains said: “This is wonderful! It's the kind of customer service we love to see in our stores! Thanks for posting this - we'll pass this on to the area manager to praise the sales assistant.”
