Police crackdown on yobs using off-road bikes on busy cycle path

by Tom Martin (July 2020)

POLICE have carried out further searches of a cycle path between Ormskirk and Maghull following more reports of off-road motorbikes being used by yobs.

The Champion reported last month how three people were arrested and a stolen moped seized by officers along the Cheshire Lines path, which runs from Plex Moss Lane, in Ormskirk, to Sefton Lane, in Maghull.

Since then, there have been more reports of off-road bikes being ridden dangerously along the cycle path by youths.

Last week, a joint operation between Merseyside Police and Lancashire Police saw officers sent to the cycle path to “disrupt the use of off-road motorbikes”.
