A ‘small army’ of volunteers which care for Ainsdale have been ‘welcomed back’ after the lockdown by Southport MP Damien Moore.
He said: “Welcome back to Southport’s ‘guerilla gardeners!’
“We have a small army of volunteers who make our parks and villages look beautiful for both local residents and also for visitors.
“It is no wonder Southport has won so many Britain In Bloom and In Bloom Awards.
“I was delighted to see our Ainsdale in Bloom community champions back together last week.
“They were very busy, renewing soil and compost in planters; removing village weeds around planters; choosing new plants to replace those lost in lockdown - and even carrying out a general brush-up in the village.
“It was great to see Graysons providing chips and coffee to keep the volunteers going.
“Ainsdale is a great example of what can be achieved by people working together to achieve positive results. There are other superb community groups at work too in areas such as Botanic Gardens, Birkdale Village, Rotten Row, Lord Street, King's Gardens, who all do an incredible job.
“I love to see local businesses and community groups working together to make parts of our town a better place for all to enjoy, and the difference in Ainsdale in recent years has been noticeable. Long may they continue!”
