AN Ormskirk soul singer is delighted after her band won an award for their performances at weddings.
Ciara McEntee, who fronts the band Soul Federation, is a popular choice of live music for brides and grooms across the north west and this has now been recognised by the Book Entertainment 2020 Event Entertainment Awards.
Winners were decided by a combination of public vote and a judging panel of industry experts with more than 1,000 entries.
Soul Federation were named Best Wedding Band for the north of England and they will now go on to the national finals.
Formed only three years ago, the ten-piece band, with members from Ormskirk, Southport and Sefton, have built up a following with their brand of classic soul songs.
They built their reputation with appearances in Liverpool, West Kirby and other events in the north west, which led to them being asked to play at weddings and business functions.
After singing professionally across Europe, Ciara is now a music teacher on the Wirral.
She said: “It’s been great playing classic soul together over the last couple of years. This win has been the icing on the cake. A big thank you to everyone who voted for us. We cannot wait to get playing again.”
One of Soul Federation’s happy clients, Ellen Kirk, said: “We booked Soul Federation for our wedding after seeing them play live in Liverpool - what a band! Our dance floor was packed from the moment they started all the way to the end of the night.”
Details of the national final arrangements have yet to be announced.
