A FORMER teacher from Maghull and president of a local arts group has passed away at the age of 98.
Doreen Kenyon taught hundreds of local children during her 24 year career at Lambshear Lane Primary School, in Lydiate, where she worked between 1957 to 1981.
Music was an important part of her life from an early age and recently the Melling Tithebarn Arts Association asked her to be Life President.
She died peacefully in her sleep on July 14 in the same house in Hall Lane that she moved into as a child in 1933.
Doreen trained as a teacher and secured her one and only teaching post in Lydiate in 1957 where she taught until 1981.
She was cremated at West Lancs Crematorium on July 28 and her ashes will be interred in St Andrew’s Garden of Remembrance when singing is allowed again in places of worship.
