BURSCOUGH Bowling Club members have been left bowled over after they received a £1,000 donation!

Persimmon Homes has  handed over the Community Champions cheque to Burscough Bowling Club for their efforts in helping to combat isolation and loneliness amongst older people.

Diane Finch, sales director for Persimmon Homes Lancashire, said: “The Community Champions match-funding initiative seeks to support grassroots groups and charities in areas where the company is building.

“Over recent months we have focused particularly on projects that help the over-70s, who are most affected by the lockdown, although we now invite applications from all charities, schools, clubs and voluntary groups across the region.”

Burscough Bowling Club has been at the heart of the village for more than 125 years, providing a vital amenity for all ages, genders and physical abilities.

Persimmon’s donation will help to fund improvements to the main pedestrian entrance to the bowling green for disabled access.

Persimmon Homes Lancashire makes two donations of up to £1,000 every month.

For any West Lancashire-based group that would like to apply, the online application form can be found at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity
