A FORMER biscuit maker has celebrated her special 101st birthday with a ‘nice’ party!
Tough cookie Margaret Rose, nee Bowen, who used to worked for Fox’s Biscuits, celebrated her big day with cupcakes for other residents at Arranmore Park Rest Home in Burscough.
A spokesperson for the home said: “Margaret’s 101st birthday on October 4 was another major milestone accomplished by an extraordinary lady who was born, bred and grown-up in Lancashire. She is the last surviving member of her family’s generation.
“She has not allowed the pandemic to slow her down when going for meals!
“She continues to maintain a positive attitude and is enthusiastic in her interaction with fellow residents and staff. “With the on going ‘lockdown’, Margaret was able to share her birthday cupcakes from The Burscough Cake Company with everyone in the care home.
“Family and friends have not been able to talk to her in person, but the staff arranged ‘through the window’ greetings, with video calls to her son John, her daughter in law Chrissie and the family.
“When asked what the secret was to reaching 101, Margaret said that she is ‘still loving life’ and laughed. To us here at Arranmore, she is a true diamond.”
