A FORMER Southport KGV student who is now a lyricist and songwriter has loaned one of his songs to a talented up-and-coming singer.

JJ Parki, 32, who lives in Spain where he works as a language teacher, recently entered the United Kingdom Songwriting Competition, from which each of his eight submitted songs achieved 4 stars out of 5 and Commended Entry.

Now, Sofia Gillani, 13, from London, has collaborated with JJ Parki as a joint entry for the Liverpool International Song For Kindness Contest – you can see her stunning performance at  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESv6QQBY1vE

JJ Parki said: “Imagine how the singer Sia must have sounded when she was thirteen, and you'll understand the power of my collaborator's voice - Sofia is only 13!

“I wrote the song (lyrics) for the United Kingdom Songwriting Contest, as you already know, and the judges awarded Smile Again (A Song For No Fear) four stars out of five and Commended Entry.

“Sofia Gillani brings my lyrics to life, and for such a tender age, what a voice!”
