PUPILS from Maricourt and St George’s Catholic Primary school, came together for a special socially distanced liturgy.
The liturgy, planned by Mr McCabe, Maricourt Chaplain, took place in the new prayer garden created in the grounds of St George’s school.
Every child at St George’s wrote or made, their own prayers that were laminated and added to the garden in the form of flowers, flags, decorative beads and prayer ribbons.
A spokesperson for the schools said: “It was lovely to see everybody being able to contribute to a project such as this .”
Students from Maricourt were able to add their own prayer ribbons as part of the celebration helping to bring the two schools together in prayer.
The garden (and staff) were blessed with Holy water before reflections and a rousing rendition of ‘He’s got the whole world in his hands,’ completed the liturgy.
Mr Chapman, headteacher at St George’s Catholic Primary, said: “It was a very special occasion where our school families came together in prayer. We are now making plans to develop our new prayer garden into a very special place for all our children.”
