THE family and friends of a tragic 12 year old girl from Southport who took her own life were shocked and horrified after yobs desecrated her grave.
Semina Halliwell, who was described as a ‘beautiful and funny’ girl died in June and police are investigating claims that she had been raped and had suffered online bullying over her ordeal.
She was buried in July and her family revealed on Tuesday, September 7 that her grave had been desecrated with yobs leaving bricks and dog mess.
Those who loved her have cleared the mess and Merseyside Police revealed that they have launched an appeal for information after Semina’s grave was desecrated.
Community Inspector Graham Fisher said: “The community will no doubt share our shock and revulsion that a grave could be desecrated like this.
“This is the final resting place of a beloved family member, and I can only imagine how upsetting it must have been for their loved ones to find that the grave had been treated in this way.
“While thankfully no permanent damage has been caused, it will have caused lasting distress to the family.
“I want to appeal to anyone who may have been visiting the cemetery recently and witnessed anything suspicious to contact us so that we can bring the perpetrators of this callous crime to justice.”

l Semima’s family and friends are in the process of setting up a charity foundation in her memory to “help raise awareness of online grooming and bullying.”
Her mother Rachel said: “In the future there will be a charity in Semina’s name. We are setting a goal of £6,000 in order to set up a charity foundation in Semina’s name.
“Any further donations will go towards setting up the foundation.”
