A GARDEN of Reflection’ to commemorate those who lost their lives to Covid-19, and to remember all the sacrifices of the last 18 months, has been officially opened in Beacon Park, Skelmersdale.
Rosie Cooper MP joined other officials including the Mayor of West Lancashire, Councillor Gordon Johnson, deputy mayor Marilyn Westley, council leader Ian Moran and Katherine Fletcher MP to officially open the garden.
The site features a time capsule buried by schoolchildren along with art installations to celebrate keyworkers and remember the good things to have come out of lockdown.
Rosie Cooper said: “This will be a really important space of our community to remember all those in West Lancashire who have lost their lives, and all those who gave so much during the pandemic.
“For many in our community this has been the toughest time of their lives but it has also been a time where the best of us has been revealed.
“I am greatly comforted that there are now permanent memorials both in Beacon Park and at West Lancashire Cemetery in Burscough, where residents can go to remember those who passed away and to honour those who contributed so much to our national fight against Covid.”
