Hospice to hold Light up a Light

Hospice to hold Light up a Light

by Tom Martin (November 2021)

SOUTH Sefton families have been invited to dedicate a light to a loved one this Christmas and support Woodlands Hospice.

Three Light up a Life services will take place, the first on Sunday, November 28 at 4pm in St Michael’s Church, Blundellsands.

There will be two evening services at Holy Name Church, in Fazakerley at 7pm on Tuesday, December 7 and at St Andrew’s Church, Maghull at 7pm on Thursday, December 9.

By dedicating a light in the hospice’s Light up a Life Appeal, your donation helps them to continue their work with patients and those closest to them.

Alicja Reilly experienced this support first hand when her husband was cared for at the hospice.

Alicja said: “Woodlands Hospice is a truly special place with incredible staff and volunteers. It is hard to put into words its importance, but I will try.

“My husband Chris and I, together, just made perfect sense. With the arrival of our daughter, life was perfect.

“Then cancer came to destroy our world. That was when Woodlands Hospice stepped in. They provided direct support to Chris but also offered support to us all.

“Woodlands Hospice gave Chris the most important gift of all, the comfort of knowing that they would support his girls, when he no longer could. Woodlands continue to help us find our way.

“Ultimately it allowed Chris to let go peacefully, reassured that Lacey and I would be okay. Something that we will be eternally thankful for.”
