SKELMERSDALE Rambling Club, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary in June this year, wants to expand its membership.
The club is looking for new members from the Ormskirk, Burscough, Westhead and Skelmersdale areas to attend their monthly walks.
Club member Pamela Chamberlain said: “It was 40 years ago, in June 1982, that Skelmersdale Rambling Club was founded. That’s a lot of miles walked, a lot of friendships made and quite a few social events and weekends away.
“We are seeking new members to join our friendly and welcoming club on our walking activities around the beautiful scenery of the Lake District, North Wales, Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Lancashire areas.
“Our current walks schedule can be found at www.skemramblers.org.uk/calendar-of-walks/ . We normally run three or four walks for each trip varying in distance from five miles to 13 miles and climbing hills and fells from 300 to 1,500 feet. That means that there is a route for most abilities.
“Our walks are published on our website and sent to club members ahead of time and also supplied on the coach for walkers’ information. Our walks are led by volunteer leaders from within the Club.
“Coach transport collects our members, on the last Sunday of the month, from Burscough, Ormskirk, Westhead and Skelmersdale to take us to locations and places people love to walk and the club promotes walking for health and pleasure.”
