A MUM from Crosby has finally been able to enjoy a Buckingham Palace garden party after she was awarded a British Empire Medal last year.
Julie Lawson received the honour in June 2021 in recognition of her incredible charity work both at a local and national level.
She travelled to London this week for the garden party, which she enjoyed despite the rainy weather!
Julie said: “It was a fabulous experience and an honour despite the torrential rain and cold. I attended with my husband Ron. This is the second time of attending my first one being 2017. It’s meant to be a once in a lifetime experience. How lucky am I!”
The Champion has published several stories over the years about Julie and her charity work.
She was inspired to raise funds after losing both of her parents, Jack and Joan Platt, only seven weeks apart to Alzheimer’s in 2014 and she has raised tens of thousands of pounds for the Alzheimer’s Society and other charities.
Julie set up a not for profit company, Julie Lawson Community Events CIC, in April 2020 to help with her efforts.
