Patience pays off for Clare

Patience pays off for Clare

by Tom Martin (June 2022)

AINSDALE resident, Clare Dawe, has just celebrated her 100th birthday.

And her secret to long life... ‘patience’ says the centenarian!

She marked the special day with her family on June 8, including her son Andrew who flew all the way from Australia to join her!

Clalre was born in Plymouth and emigrated to Adelaide with her husband Eric, along with their son and daughter under the ‘Ten Pound Pom’ scheme in 1955 when she was 33-years-old.

She returned to England with her husband in 1971 and worked in the Civil Service in Plymouth, retiring in 1982 before moving to Ainsdale in 2007 where she still lives with her daughter Judy.

When asked for her secret to a long and healthy life, Clare said “being patient and having an ability to listen - as well as not taking myself too seriously!”
