A RUFFORD man has organised a Live Cabaret Night in memory of his wife to raise money for North West Air Ambulance and Parkinson’s UK.
It will be held this Friday (July 22) at 7pm at the Blue Mallard restaurant in Burscough Wharf.
Ron Snape’s late wife, Pauline Snape, fell down the stairs and broke her neck in April 2013. North West Air Ambulance took her to Walton hospital, where she was put in a coma for a week.
After a couple of weeks she came through, but was then diagnosed with Parkinson’s. She died in 2018.
Ron, 85, who lives in Rufford, said: “Over the last three years I have raised £11,000 for charity. I want to do what I can for as long as I can for charity. From the £11,000, £800 has gone to Queenscourt Hospice. They looked after her during the last two weeks of her life.
“I held a quiz night on Tuesday, July 12 at the Hop Vine in Burscough.
“There will be professional singers, a professional DJ and a luxury buffet at the fundraising event at the Blue Mallard.”
Ron has also released a single called I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You, with all donations being shared between North West Air Ambulance and Parkinson’s UK. It was recorded at Spirit Studios in Manchester and has vocals by Ron.
Tickets for the fundraising event are £20 and anyone interested should call Ron on 01704 821296.
