AFTER two years, The BIG Model and Hobby Show is set to return!
The popular event will be held from 10am-4.30pm on Saturday, August 6 at the Princes Royal Exhibition Hall at Aintree Racecourse.
Organiser Peter Wood, from the Gauge One Model Railway Association, North West Group said: “After a wait of two years we are nearly there with a new show for 2022. Our first show at the Convention Centre in Southport was very well received and the crowds turned out in their hundreds. “When we came to book the same venue for 2021, we paid a deposit, only to discover that the venue had gone into liquidation and we lost our deposit.
“Aintree Racecourse should prove to be a good venue, easily accessible from the motorway network and with a railway station across the road with a very frequent service to Liverpool.
“We have taken three floors at the venue with two lifts for ease of access to the second and fourth floor. The ground floor is reserved for the larger displays and associated trade stands and the second floor has Slideways Drift radio control cars and Hoylake Models with their radio control large trucks and buses, along with Society stands, Meccano display and model railway exhibits.
“We also welcome the West Lancashire Lace Makers, with their ladies showing off their skills along with the Southport Wood Carvers Group giving displays of how to carve wood. The fourth floor is where Keith Hick will be found giving illustrated talks on railways around Liverpool and the early days of American railways when rail travel was all the rage.
“Enjoy the show and thank you for your involvement.”
