New chapter for community library

New chapter for community library

by Tom Martin (July 2022)

VOLUNTEERS have marked the first anniversary of the opening of Birkdale Community Hub and Library.

Based in the Station Master’s House, the facility was opened 12 months ago and there are already 1,000 local members and more than 5,000 books to choose from.

A proud Phil Margham, chair of trustees, said: “We have recruited more than 60 volunteers to help run the library and meeting rooms. Importantly, our building is fully accessible for all.

“Our volunteers offer help with computer issues and free access to the internet, alongside a social calendar of regular events and classes.”
