IT’S been a busy start to the Rotary year for The Rotary Club of Ormskirk!
John McCormick took over as President of the Club from Phil Lee on July 1 and, after the problems of Covid for the past couple of years, it is hoped that a full programme of meetings and events can be achieved.
The first event was the presentation of certificates and Rotary badges to local pupils, who took part in the Rotary Junior Community Award scheme.
This was started in Australia and the Rotary Club of Ormskirk is one of only two Rotary clubs in the country to organise as a community service project.
A spokesman for the club, said: “It is a fantastic experience and achievement and certificates were presented to the children at a ceremony at the Civic Hall by the Mayor of West Lancashire, Cllr Mrs Marilyn Westley.”
The Mayor also visited the club at a meeting in the Cricketers and gave a talk.
Finally, a party was held at the President’s house to raise money for local charity Divine Days.
