POP star Olly Murs was on hand to officially open a new children’s activity centre in Birkdale.
Staff from VIP HQ Birkdale were delighted to welcome the singer on Saturday, August 20 and he didn’t disappoint – attracting hundreds of people who arrived to try and meet him!
Olly, who shot to fame after coming second in The X Factor in 2009, was tasked with cutting the ribbon to the new facility before he enjoyed a tour and meet some of his fans.
A spokesperson for VIP HQ Birkdale said: “Wow - what a day! A special thank you to Olly Murs who couldn’t have done any more for us all. Hundreds came and, hand on heart, I don’t think there was anyone who could say that he didn’t give them any time!
“Thank you to everyone that rocked up, waited outside and of course all of our customers too. You guys were an absolute credit to the village. We are literally overwhelmed with all of your support! Our first week has been incredible.”
VIP HQ Birkdale, on Welb Road, has a Ninja Warrior course, a two-storey yellow submarine soft play area and seaside baby sensory soft play areas.
