  • Our Big Gig to raise money for Twinkle House

    Henry James

A FATHER and daughter from Up Holland have again teamed up with the landlord of a local pub to launch a fundraising drive – including a 'Our Big Gig' event – in aid of Twinkle House children's charity in Skelmersdale.

Phil Wallis and daughter Leah are organising a host of events to raise money for the charity which provides a sensory support service for children and young people aged 0-19 with disabilities or additional needs living in North West England.

All funds raised will to help Twinkle House, which is based at 2 Gorsey Place, East Gillibrands.

Phil said: “Following the success of Our Big Gig @ the Stanley last year, we have decided to do it all over again this time raising funds for Twinkle house in Skelmersdale. Leah Wallis, Carl Buck and I, have been joined by Mick Lyon in organising this year's event.”

The events will take place on May-day bank holiday weekend.

On Friday, April 28 at the Stanley in Up Holland there will be a Jukebox Friday where a DJ will play any three songs of people's choice for £1. On Saturday, April 29 there is a sponsored walk day. This will take place at Derwentwater, near Keswick in the Lake District.

On Sunday, April 30 Our Big Gig will be held at the Stanley. A total of 16 live acts will take to the stage from 12.30pm till late. The weekend will finish with an indoor car boot sale.

Last year's Our Big Gig event raised money for West Lancashire High School in Skelmersdale.
