Southport firm has a burning desire to expand
by David Simister

A SOUTHPORT manufacturer with a burning desire to expand has bought another company based in the resort in a bid to help secure a bright future for both firms.

Inciner8, based on Balmoral Drive, said it had bought Canning Road-based sheet metal specialists Summerlin Engineering as part of efforts to expand its incinerator supply business, in a deal which bosses at the Marshside-based business said would bring benefits to both companies.

Vince Ferguson, Managing Director at Inciner8, said: “I am thrilled with this latest chapter in Inciner8’s growth.

Over the years, we have proven that British manufacturing is still the best in the world and that our company is resilient in its top position as the customers’ first choice in Incineration technology around the world.

”This merger will further enhance our capability, whilst enjoying new challenges and product lines. We look forward to a bright future with our new team.“

Inciner8, which has an annual turnover of £4.2m, will use Summerlin's expertise in sheet metal manufacturing to help benefit its incinerator business, while Summerlin's employees will be given more financial security and additional investment as part of the buyout.

David Summerlin, Managing Director at Summerlin Engineering Limited, stated: ”This is an exciting opportunity for a second generation family-run business to position itself in the global market place for sub-contract engineering.

“Given the precarious nature of the UK and European markets, gaining the valuable resources, knowledge and existing worldwide contact base from Inciner8 will not only give security to our workforce, but also to our valued customers whom now we should be able to extend additional capacity and increased scopes of work to accommodate their needs.”
