Party time at Legion
by Tom Martin

A CHRISTMAS party which was held at the Netherton and Sefton Royal British Legion Club in a bid to raise desperately funds for the venue was a huge success with more than 250 children attending.

Organisers say the event was such a success they want to hold more in future and help secure the future of the club after there fears that it would be forced to close due to lack of funds.

It was the first party held in the building for years and and more than 200 attended altogether to show their support and it raised nearly £700 for the club.

There was children's entertainment with a disco as well as a raffle and the money will now be put towards the running costs of the Legion.

One of the organisers, Hellaine Brennan, said: “It was brilliant and no one had a bad word to say about the day.

”We had around 160 children here and they were delighted to see appearances from Peppa Pig and also Father Christmas.

“There was a great atmosphere and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

”Hopefully this will now be the first of many because I definitely want to organise more in the future.

“The money will be put towards the Legion.

”We want it to gradually get better and better because there was a fear that it would have to close down at one point.

“So the funds that we raised will go towards preventing that.

”I must also say a big thank you to Mooeys Musica that provided the entertainment and also Sparky's Balloons who helped make the day a success.“
