Teddy Bear's Picnic event returns
by Tom Martin

THE annual Teddy Bear's Picnic event is set to take place at the Jospice and will involve a cuddly toy competition to find the best ones.

It is being held at the Thornton-based facility on Saturday June 20 at 1pm and everyone is invited to attend and support a range of stalls, a tombola and other attractions.

Youngsters will then pit their teddy bear against others in a number of categories that includes best dressed, most unusual and the oldest looking teddy.

A spokesperson for Jospice said: “”Every year it has become tradition for staff at the Jospice to offer its large ground to families looking to enjoy an afternoon picnic. Join in the fun and more especially invite teddy to join in the teddy parade and competition.

“There are three categories in the competition, the best dressed teddy. The oldest looming teddy and the most unusual teddy. It is often the most fiercely contested competition locally each year. Last year there was great disappointment when heavy rain and high wind had to cancel the event only a few hours before.

”Anyone interested can bring their own picnic or alternatively there will be food there to purchase.“

The event starts at 1pm and the teddy parade will at begin at around 3pm.
