Charity has raised £100k in 30 years
by Tom Martin

A CROSBY charity is celebrating a special landmark after raising more than £100,000 across its 30 year history.

Crosby ActionAid group managed to reach the figure after raising £5,000 across 2015 – which is the most in one single year since 2005.

Some of the donations given over the past 12 months includes £116 for the Ebola appeal, £290 for the Vanuatu Cyclone appeal and £214 to the South Asia Earthquake appeal. There was also £4,153 given to the Nepal Earthquake appeal.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “Over the 30 years the group has supported projects and emergency appeals across the continents of South America, Africa, Asia, the Indian sub-continent, as well as in the Middle East and Island Nations in the Caribbean and Pacific.

”The aid the group has helped to provide has covered a wide range from emergency aid disaster or conflict strikes, to rebuild their lives, to helping some of the poorest people to improve the quality of their lives by helping them secure a safe water supply, improve their agriculture, education, access to health care and training.

“The group would like to say a special thank you to everyone who has in any way helped with, or supported, its fundraising over the years. Without that help and support it would never have been able to raise such an amount.”
