Pregnant woman involved in Miller's Bridge smash
by Tom Martin

A “HEAVILY pregnant woman” was involved in a serious car crash in Bootle.

The 26-year-old, who was thankfully uninjured, was one of five people involved in the collision when two cars crashed on Miller's Bridge at around 11.45am on Thursday, January 7.

Two men, one aged 44 and one aged 68 were in one of the vehicles. The 44-year-old did not suffer injury and was able to get out of the car when emergency services arrived.

Firefighters had to use hydraulic equipment to remove the passenger door so the 68-year-old man, who was suffering chest pain, could escape and he was then taken to Royal Liverpool Hospital.

The “heavily pregnant woman” was in the other car with a 27-year-old man and three-year-old toddler but all three were uninjured.

The woman was taken to Liverpool Women's Hospital on the advice of medical staff but did not appear to be hurt.

Firefighters were able to make the vehicles safe and handed the handling of the scene over to Merseyside Police for traffic control.
